ROSE'S FILMS MAKE FOR "ROTTEN" TELEVISION
(25.APR.07) To a big and wonderful surprise to us at DRP, we had a visit by the legendary, Johnny
Rotten, (John Lyndon) of the British music group The
Sex Pistols. Yes, that one. The famed rocker is working on his latest television show, Rotten Does America. One of his early episodes will be the fascination over the Civil War and especially the Confederacy. Rotten traveled across the South interviewing people who are keeping the history reminder of what happen back then. There, he heard of a film-maker on the other side of the US of A, who made a documentary about African-Americans who fought for the Confederacy. Instantly, Rotten and his crew flew to Las Vegas to interview our very own, Stan Armstrong. They discussed not only about Black
Confederates but also about General
Nathan Bedford Forrest and Fort
Pillow.
So please look for the show to be aired some time later this year.

"INVISIBLE
LAS VEGAS" DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE SCREENING
(21.Nov.05) After years of planning, filming and editing,
Stan is proud to present his gift to the year long celebration of Las
Vegas' 100th birthday, a documentary called "Invisible Las Vegas". The
premiere will be held at the West
Las Vegas Library Theatre on Sunday, December the 11th at 4:00 pm
with a lite reception to be after the screening
(Production crew is invited to a VIP party before the film at 3:00 pm.)
Join us in viewing "Invisible Las Vegas", recounting the history
of West Las Vegas, emphasizing the town's development by thousands of
blacks from the Deep South who came seeking a better way of life only
to find other forms of racism. These African Americans struggled and
ultimately overcame but much of their history, our history, has been
forgotten amidst the spectacle of Las Vegas. The title, a homage to
Ralph Ellison's landmark 1952 novel "Invisible Man" which
celebrates black America's rich cultural history still remains (even
today) unseen by the majority white culture, which surrounds it. This
program is Free & Open to the Public. For more information, please
contact the West Las Vegas Library at 507-3989 or contact Stan Armstrong,
Filmmaker-Desert Rose Productions, Inc. at 739-7472.
